Konstantin Alekseyevich Korovin was a leading Russian Impressionist painter. He worked for S.I. Mamontov's private opera from 1885, and in Imperial theaters later on. In 1923, he moved to Paris where he continued to work as a theatrical decorator and paint landscapes, particularly nocturnal scenes of Paris boulevards. Korovin was one of the most brilliant representatives of Impressionism in Russian art and he remained loyal to this trend in painting up to the end of the 1930s.
