Oil on canvas
Private collection.
In 1878, Claude Monet settled in Vétheuil, a small village approximately seventy kilometres north west from Paris. The paintings from Vétheuil show a radical change in Monet's work. He shifted from busy city scenes towards deserted landscapes. He became increasingly fascinated by the effects of light and colour which arose through the constantly changing weather.
